Join us Thursday, September 14 for an evening of talks and displays from organizations with the Toronto Inner Harbour Floatables Strategy, a collaborative strategy to reduce plastic pollution and other floating litter in the harbour.

Speakers will share the collective work they’re doing to reduce plastic pollution from entering our waterways through cleanup, scientific data collection and educational outreach.

This event is hosted with support from the Commission for Environmental Cooperation’s Reduction of Marine Litter Project and #LastStopTheOcean campaign.
The Toronto Inner Harbour Floatables Strategy, is led in partnership with the U of T Trash Team, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, the Toronto Remedial Action Plan, PortsToronto, City of Toronto, Swim Drink Fish, Waterfront Business Improvement Area, and Harbourfront Centre. Partners in Project Green oversees the Floatables Strategy on behalf of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.
This event is free and open to the public.Â

Susan received her BSc in Zoology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Guelph and a certificate of Ecosystem Management Technology through Fleming College. She also received a certificate in the Fundamentals of Volunteer Management through Humber College. She is passionate about connecting individuals with meaningful opportunities and spent over a decade supporting a national network of community volunteers through the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.
Head of Operations and the Program Lead of Scientific Programming and Application (U of T Trash Team)
Chelsea has been researching the sources, sinks and ecological implications of plastic debris for more than a decade. In addition to research, Chelsea works to translate science beyond academia. For example, she presented her work to the United Nations General Assembly and at the US State Department. Moreover, she has served as an expert witness for both the Canadian and United States government.
Megan received her BSc in Environmental Science and Geography with a minor in Geographic Information Systems from McMaster University. She also completed a postgraduate certificate in Ecosystem Restoration from Niagara College. She is passionate about advocating for and restoring our water. She currently operates the Toronto Community Based Water Monitoring Hub for Swim Drink Fish where she provides educational programming and monitors the Toronto waterfront. Â
Darlene coordinates water and waste programming at Partners in Project Green, a program of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. Darlene has over 5 years of experience helping individuals and organizations reach their sustainability goals through innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
Stephanie Parish works in the Education and Training Division at Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. As a Community Outreach and Education Coordinator, she develops and delivers events and programs across Toronto providing meaningful opportunities that educate and engage the local community. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Management from the University of Toronto and a Master's degree in Conservation Biology from Edinburgh Napier University. Stephanie also has several years of experience in environmental education with the Toronto Zoo, Greenpeace Canada, and the Royal Ontario Museum. She is an avid lover of wildlife with a keen interest in introducing communities to ways that the public can contribute to collective scientific knowledge. 
Jessica is a communications strategist with experience in the public and private sectors, she has led campaigns for organizations such as Elections Ontario, PortsToronto and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Ms. Pellerin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Allison University and certifications in such areas as museum and gallery studies, editing and media relations. She sits on marine and aviation industry public and government relations committees including the Chamber of Marine Commerce, Association of Canadian Port Authorities, and is co-chair of the PortsToronto Sustainability Committee.Â
